Arthur gets a call from John who tells him about the letter. When Frances leaves, Tommy opens the letter and finds a black hand from Luca Changretta (Adrian Brody). At first, Frances seems hesitant to accept the offer. He also tells Frances that he wants her to sit at the table with them. Thomas reveals that he has invited Johnny Dogs (Packy Lee) and his friends over. He is told that the new chef wants to know how many guests will be attending. Thomas is asked about the upcoming Christmas dinner. Frances (Pauline Turner) gives Thomas his letters. Thomas seems convinced that the Union isn’t going to strike so soon after Christmas. She makes it clear that her union isn’t afraid of him. Arthur plays with the baby, while picking up eggs outside. Linda (Kate Phillips) doesn’t open Arthur’s. Arthur and the other family members receive strange letters. She lets Ada know that she has no love for Thomas.Īda learns that Arthur has changed completely. She believes that she will be able to return Polly to her senses. John invites Ada to stay at his place, but she refuses. He is interrupted by the arrival of Ada (Sophie Rundle).
She speaks to her imaginary ghosts in her dark home. Then, he suggests Michael will be able to pull her out of her troubles and help her escape her drugs. Thomas tells him to believe her and see them as well. Michael explains that she has started seeing ghosts. He is told that someone named Jessie Eden (Charlie Murphy) is leading the charge.
He is told that the Union wants the female wire cutters to be paid equally. Thomas makes it clear that he has little hope that Michael will be able to resolve the union problem. Then, Thomas heads to the factory, where Michael is shown snorting blow. Before too long, Lizzie is gone and Thomas is with a new harlot. He is told that Charlie should be allow to spend time with his cousins. Lizzie (Natasha O’Keeffe) sits with Thomas and urges him to reunite with his family. He is also told about a union problem at one of the factories. Thomas speaks with his assistant and learns what he purchased his son for Christmas. He tells the clerk to find him someone new. Then, we see Thomas head to the Midland Hotel. Thomas Shelby (Cillian Murphy) manages to pull some strings and get his family spared just in time. They put up a little resistance, but are ultimately escorted to the hangman’s noose. Polly (Helen McCrory) is escorted from her cell as well. The best drama on British TV, though that isn't always saying a lot.As the fourth season gets underway, Michael (Finn Cole), John (Joe Cole), and Arthur (Paul Anderson) are removed from their cells. Better than the third, it was seen some phenomenal acting, consistently strong and delicate writing and impeccable production design. Will the next threat come from the multiple American crime families the Shelbys are now tangled up in? The crown? The army? One thing's for sure, this has been an exhilarating fourth season. This was a very clear-cut ending that leaves a ton of opportunities for what could be the final season (the show was envisioned as consisting of five). Promising to be a mole in the cause for the government, he earned a brazen reward, being put on the ballot paper and winning an election to parliament as a representative for Labour. Apparently determined to ruin every romance he ever had, he lied to union leader Jessie about supporting her cause, earning himself a shag but certainly untold grief further down the line. Heading back to the bookies where he belongs, Tommy revealed he "had an idea", prompting an "oh fuck" from Polly.
